John “Jack” Green

John “Jack” Green, 69, of Fredonia, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 18, 2020, just after returning from a morning fishing on Cassadaga Lake.

Jack was born Feb. 10, 1951, in Buffalo, N.Y., the son of the late Harry and Helen Green.

Drafted at 19, Jack was a U.S. Army veteran serving in Vietnam as a generator mechanic. Jack was a true patriot and proud American.

He retired from Uni-Punch in Buffalo as a shipping and receiving manager.

Jack was a member of the Dunkirk Conservation Club and the Moniouszko Club.

Jack was passionate about fishing and hunting, a member of the Buffalo Rod and Gun Club Inc. for 53 years, where he built life-long, cherished friendships and memories of hunting and fishing journeys. While enjoying retirement, Jack taught children to fly fish through the Conservation Club. Sharing Jack’s joy and knowledge was priceless.

First and foremost, Jack was a dedicated father and grandfather. He treasured his children and grandchildren. He had a vivacious personality, always making those around him laugh and making friends wherever he went.

Surviving are his loving fiance, Kandy Hemenger of Fredonia; son, Christopher (Meghan) of Amherst, son, Bryan (Chelsea) of Orchard Park, and Brandi (Robert) Tate of Silver Creek; grandchildren: Sawyer and Victoria; brother, Phil (Marie); sister, Patty (Jerry); and several nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Following the guidelines and protocols administered by the governor of New York, relatives and friends may call Friday from 3-6 p.m., at the R. Mackowiak Funeral Home Inc., 56 East Doughty St., Dunkirk.
