Arthur Casimer Kilian

Arthur Casimer Kilian, 95, of Dunkirk, N.Y., passed away peacefully on Aug. 29, 2020, in Signal Mountain, Tenn.

He was born July 28, 1925 in Dunkirk, N.Y., to Casimer and Helen Kilian.

He is survived by three siblings: Adrian Kilian, Thomas Kilian and Sister Cynthia; his three children: Roger Kilian, Diana Cairns and Cristina Lemay; as well as six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Graduated class of 1943 from Dunkirk High School, where he played football. He fought in World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War and served in the U.S. Navy, U.S. Army and U.S. Air Force during his 30 years of service to the country he loved so much.

He met his deceased wife, Fiorenza Tognetti of Rome, Italy, through writing as pen pals during the war. They were married July 23, 1959, in Genoa, Italy and were married for 50 years.

After retirement. he moved his family to New Orleans, La., where he lived for 35 years. After Hurricane Katrina, he moved with his wife to Tennessee, where they enjoyed their final years among their grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He will be buried in Dunkirk, N.Y., and a service will be held at St. Hedwig’s Church at a later time.
