James P. McCann

James P. McCann, formerly of Fredonia, N.Y., died on Sept. 3, 2020, at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, NY.

He was born in North Buffalo, N.Y., on December 30, 1945, to the late John and Irene ( Hales) McCann.

James received his education in Lackawanna, N.Y. and in 1965, enlisted in the U.S. Army to serve during the Vietnam War. Later, he married the love of his life, Jacqueline Manns, and together they raised a wonderful family, which he loved dearly.

James was a hard working man. For 34 years, he worked in the trucking department at the Ford Stamping Plant in Woodlawn, N.Y. and then at the Chautauqua Institution in Chautauqua, N.Y., for 13 years.

In his leisure time, he enjoyed watching the Buffalo Bills and the Buffalo Sabres games and gardening.

Besides his wife, Jacqueline, James is survived by his son, Christopher J. McCann, of Fredonia, N.Y., his sister, Patricia Schanberger of Hamburg, N.Y., and brother, Jake McCann of West Seneca, N.Y., as well as his young granddaughter, Emily McCann, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his sisters, Marylynn Mulligan of Derby, N.Y. and Jean Caldwell of Angola, N.Y.

According to the Family’s wishes, both James’ Funeral Service and Interment will be private.

All arrangements have been entrusted to Michael R. Fantauzzi, Owner and Director of the FANTAUZZI FUNERAL HOME, 82 East Main Street, Fredonia, N.Y.
