Nora J. Bomasuto Harris

Nora J. Bomasuto Harris, 82, of Dunkirk, died Tuesday morning (Sept. 8, 2020) at Brooks Memorial Hospital in Dunkirk.

She was born June 13, 1938, in Philadelphia, Pa., the daughter of the late Jamil and Gertrude (Pompender) Azeez.

A lifelong resident of Dunkirk, Nora was a graduate of Dunkirk High School. She was a manager at Twin Fair, she also worked for The New York Store and St Vincent’s Home as the activities director. She and her husband, Vincent were co-owners of the Hungry Hut Hot dog stand on Lake Shore Drive in Dunkirk.

She loved to spend time with her family and she enjoyed spending the winters in Las Vegas, Florida and Phoenix, with her husband, Phillip.

She was a parishioner of Holy Trinity Church and a member of the Dunkirk Seniors Center, where she loved to play cards with all of her friends.

Survivors include her husband, Phillip J. Harris Sr.; three sons: Angelo (Danita) Bomasuto of Dunkirk and Las Vegas, Nev., Vincent C. (Jody) Bomasuto Jr. of Dunkirk, and Christopher (Karen) Bomasuto of Las Vegas, Nev.; seven grandchildren: Christina, Angelo Jr., Vincent III, Christopher Jr., Anthony, Joyce and Nicholas; one sister, Miriam (Bob) Ortolano of Lake Havasu, Ariz.; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Vincent C. Bomasuto Sr., who died Sept. 14, 1984; one brother, Omar Azeez; and two sisters: Jamila “Gigi” Jafari and Sara Azeez.

Following the guidelines and protocols administered by the governor of New York, family and friends may attend from 4-7 p.m., Friday, Sept. 11, at the McGraw-Kowal Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, Sept. 12, at 10 a.m. in Holy Trinity Church. No more than 33% occupancy is permitted in the church or the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers or memorials may be made to a charity of your choice in her name.
