Betty L. Mulder

Betty L. Mulder, 92, of Pleasant Prairie, Wis., passed away Sunday, Oct 25, 2020, at the Virginia Highland Senior Home in Germantown, Wis.

Betty was born Elizabeth Meeder in Warren, Pa., on June 2, 1928. The daughter of the late LeRoy and Mae (Paul) Meeder, whose family dated back to 1653 as original settlers in Essex and Old Norfolk, New Hampshire.

Reared in the Harrisburg area of Pennsylvania, Betty worked in show business, taking the stage name of “Sydney” and spent time in New York and California, when she was young.

She was an accomplished piano player, interior decorator and cook. She was always making elaborate meals for her family during the holidays and other special occasions. She also spent a great deal of time sewing, craft making, and reading novels, biographies, and other books on current events throughout her life.

In the mid- 1950s, she married Richard Mulder and had two children (Richard and Jeffrey), and settled into life as a homemaker raising her children.

For many years after her children were grown, Betty ran a security and investigation office in Waukegan, Ill. During retirement, she and her partner, Toby enjoyed their time traveling all over Europe and China. During the winter months, they spent many years living in Maui, Hawaii and Naples, Fla.

Late in life, Betty’s primary focus was her grandchildren: Jeffrey Jr., and Michael. Her love for them was truly special. She enjoyed buying them presents for Christmas and birthdays when they were young and devoted much of her time to entertaining, cooking, and making Christmas, Thanksgiving, and other memorable and meaningful occasions for them and her entire family.

Betty is survived by family and close friends, including her grandchildren: Jeffrey (Jr) and Michael; great-grandchild, Charlotte Katherine and Lauren Kloepffer (mother); Richard (Rick) and Jeffrey (J.B.) her children; Merissa Modory (step-grand-daughter); Linda and Nan-cy Mulder (daughters- in-law) and close family friend, Carol Anderson and her entire family.

She will be profoundly missed but remembered forever.
