Diana Judith Kane

Diana Judith Kane passed away peacefully on Nov. 23, at her home in Dunkirk, N.Y. She was born in Dunkirk on Nov. 15, 1939 to Eugene and Helen (Tomczak) Kane. She was a 1957 graduate of Dunkirk High School and had fond memories of playing flute in the high school band and being the majorette in the marching band.

In 1959, she married Walter O’Brocta and welcomed her daughter, Judith, in 1961 and son, Stephen, in 1965. Diana was a perfect cheerleader for her children, always encouraging them to do whatever they wished for or dreamed of.

Once her children were through school, Diana started a new journey of her own. She moved to Venice, Fla., and became a licensed esthetician. After some time, she moved to Apalachicola, Fla., and started her own business, Le Debut. Diana enjoyed the sun filled days in the area and made many friends in the 18 years she lived there.

In 2015, she moved back to her hometown to be near her daughter, Judi. Diana was an animal lover and had countless cats over the years. She was a small person with strong ideas and big faith which she loved to share and encourage others with.

Diana is survived by her brother, Eugene (Linda) Kane of Troy, N.Y.; daughter, Judith (Rich) Leibl of Dunkirk; son Stephen (Sarah) O’Brocta of Petersburg, Alaska; and grandchildren: Max Henshaw of Missoula, Mont. Lora O’Brocta of Boise, Idaho, and Owen O’Brocta of Petersburg, Alaska; as well as her niece Jennifer (Dan) DeWolf of Averill Park, N.Y.; also beloved dog, Mackie and cat, Kiki.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Lakeshore Humane Society or Chautauqua Hospice and Palliative Care.
