Elaine Grace Smith Hall

WESTFIELD — Elaine Grace Smith Hall, 90, of Westfield, passed away on Wednesday, Nov.18, 2020 at her home following a lengthy illness.

She was born Aug. 4, 1930, in Westfield, N.Y., the daughter of the late Omar and Maude Royce Smith Sr.

Elaine was a graduate of Westfield High School. She had worked as a secretary for Welch’s for many years and later became a home maker and farmer helping to take care of their grape vineyards.

She had been an active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Westfield for many years, was a founding member of the Portage Trail Riders Horse Club, a member of the PONY Horse Association, a member of the Growers Co-Op Grape Juice Co., a volunteer for the Patterson Library for many years and was a Gray Lady Volunteer at Westfield Hospital. She had also operated a flower business at the Chautauqua Institution Farmers Market for many years.

Elaine enjoyed taking care of her farm, horse competitions in New York, Pennsylvania and Ohio and time with her family.

She is survived by two children; Taylor Hall of Westfield, N.Y., and Mary (Donald) Kirby of Franklin, Tenn.; two grandchildren: Erin (Cameron) Crouse and Brennen (Will) Boone; one great-grandchild, Camille Crouse; a nephew, Dale Smith; a niece;,Judy Lederer; and a nephew-in-law, Alfred Hall Jr.

In addition to her parents, he was preceded in death by her husband, James Taylor Hall; a daughter, Julia Royce Hall; two brothers: Max Smith and Omar Smith Jr.: and a sister, Jenny Smith.

A memorial service will be announced at a later date at the convenience of the family.
