John R. Vickers

John R. Vickers, 80, of Silver Creek, N.Y., passed away on Saturday morning Nov. 14, 2020, at the Chautauqua Nursing and Rehab Center in Dunkirk, N.Y.

He was born on April 17, 1940 in Silver Creek, the son of the late Lawrence and Mary Rae (Abbey) Vickers.

John was a patriot who served in the U.S. Navy from 1961-65. He worked as a truck driver for Praxair until the late 1990s. John was a member of the Lakeshore Street Rod Association for over 20 years and he enjoyed driving his classic cars and trucks all over Chautauqua County. He also was a member of the Sheridan Veterans of Foreign Wars for over 15 years.

Surviving are his son, Robert Vickers; a grandson, Kevin Vickers; great-granddaughter, Chloe Vickers; a sister, Ann Vickers; a cousin, David Lalomia Sr.; stepdaughters: Colleen Boucher and Michelle Botticelli; and a great-niece, Jessica Smith.

John is now reunited with his wife, Nancy Botticelli-Vickers (2009); his son, the late Kevin Vickers; and their beloved Golden Retriever, “Sassy.”

If you knew John you could find him in the smoking lounge at Native Pride or Tom’s Diner with his breakfast club every Sunday morning. He was a witty, easy-going soul who will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

At the request of the deceased, there will be no visitation or service.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Hole-Parker Funeral Chapel, 160 Central Ave., Silver Creek.
