Abbey Laine Brumagin

MADISON, N.C. – Abbey Laine Brumagin, 23, died on Wednesday, Jan. 6, 2021 at Wake Forest Baptist Hospital.

The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 13, 2021 at Colonial Funeral Home. A brief service will follow at 8 p.m. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date.

Abbey was born on May 29, 1997 in Guilford County, North Carolina. She was a 2015 graduate of Dalton L. McMichael High School and had dreams of becoming an elementary school teacher. Abbey had the personality to change any negative energy into positive energy; she was a bright light in every room she entered. She never met a stranger, if they were, they would be friends in 5 minutes. One of Abbey’s best traits, even on her darkest of days, she would be able to give anyone words of encouragement to make their day so much better. She was a brilliant writer, whether it was about her feelings or beautiful poetry. She enjoyed going to concerts with her mom and sisters. Abbey found happiness spending time with her father, and their many trips to Disney. She also loved to rearrange and decorate her home and was becoming quite the makeup artist. One of Abbey’s favorite past times was to just be with her family, doing absolutely anything, or nothing at all. She was an amazing friend, sister, and daughter. She holds a special place in all of our hearts. Abbey was an “old soul”, a hippie, a flower child, an angel that is gone way too soon. Her family is comforted knowing how deeply and truly she was loved, she will be incredibly missed by many.

She was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, Alvin Brumagin; maternal grandparents, James T. “Pete” Baker and Betty Lou Baker and uncle, Darryl Baker.

Survivors include her parents, Steve Brumagin and Joy Baker; siblings, Kenneth Joyce (Erica), Kate Brumagin and Emily Brumagin; nephew, Colt Stratton; niece, Lottie Lou Joyce; paternal grandmother, Rose Brumagin; uncles, Al Brumagin (Cheryl) and Mike Baker (Lisa); aunts, Roxanne Sobecki (Nick) and Laura Smith (Scott) and many extended family members, special friends and canine, Gracie.
