RIPLEY — On Saturday, Feb. 13, 2021, Richard Harrison McCutcheon, loving husband, farmer, and father of four, passed away in a house fire at the age of 63 years old.

Rick was born Oct. 12, 1957, in Westfield, N.Y., the son of the late Frank and Marlene McCutcheon. He spent his childhood tending to his family’s land on Forsythe Farm.

Rick graduated from Westfield Academy and Central School in the Class of 1975, and then attended Ohio Institute of Technology earning an associate’s degree. After spending 12 years working as a computer tech in California following college, he returned to the McCutcheon Estate in 1988 to run his family farm in Westfield, N.Y.

On July 6, 1996, Rick had married Brenda Marie Riforgiato, and together they raised four wonderful children, Amanda, Aaron, Nathan, and Melanie.

Rick’s passion for his farm was his life song, and his dogs were his faithful followers. Each day of his life was dedicated to ensuring plentiful growth of grapevines, fruit trees, and vegetable gardens spanning over 130-plus acres of land. As soon as his children came of age, tending to the farm became a family adventure. Rick poured his life into his farm for over 33 years, and the McCutcheon Estate has been in membership with the National Grape Co-Op since 1945.

He is survived by his wife, Brenda, and children; Amanda and husband, Dereck, Aaron and fiance, Penny, Nathan Harrison, and wife, Mary, and Melanie, and husband, Cody. His grandchildren; Dean, Dylin, Hailey, Eliza, Hayleigh, Aubree, Henry Harrison, and Lincoln. Also survived by his brother, Frank Jr. and wife Laurie, and niece, Marina.

In addition to his parents, Rick was preceded in death by his grandson , Damon.

Funeral services will be held privately and are being cared for by the MORSE FUNERAL HOME, 51 Highland Avenue, Brocton, NY 14716.
