Richard L. “Rick” Abbey
WESTFIELD — Richard L. “Rick” Abbey, 56, of Hardscrabble Rd. Westfield, N.Y., passed away peacefully Sunday, Feb. 7, 2021, at home following a brief illness.
Rick was born Nov. 21, 1964, in Westfield Memorial Hospital the son of Dale L. Abbey and the late Sally D. (Toy) Abbey.
He was a graduate of Westfield Academy and Central School Class of 1983. Following graduation, Rick specialized in computer building and repair. Most recently, he had been employed at the Chautauqua Rehab and Skilled Nursing Facility in Dunkirk, N.Y., in their facility operations department.
In his spare time, Rick enjoyed hunting and working on cars. He also was an avid Buffalo Bills fan.
But most of all, Rick was happiest in the company of his friends and especially enjoyed the times spent with his family.
Rick was a member of the American Legion Post 327 in Westfield, N.Y.
In addition to his father Dale Abbey of Westfield, N.Y., he is survived by his beloved wife Jean, daughter Brittany Lucas, son Michael Abbey, step-children Kimberly Della-Porta and Robert Becker. Several aunts, uncles, and cousins further survive.
Rick was preceded in death by his loving mother Sally D. Abbey who died March 31, 2008.
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, visitation will be held privately with burial in Westfield Union Cemetery. A celebration of life will be held and announced at a later date.
Memorials in honor of Rick can be made on his behalf to the; American Legion Post 327, 7579 E Main St, Westfield, NY 14787 towards their building and maintenance fund.
