Janet “Jean” Adamczak

Janet “Jean” Adamczak died at Brooks Memorial Hospital on Sunday, March 28, 2021, at the age of 89. Janet was born in Dunkirk on Dec. 19, 1931, to Rocco and Angeline (Rado) Acquavia.

She was a resident of Dunkirk her entire life and worked at Ludlum’s Variety Store, Ludlum’s Christmas Store and retired from Wal-Mart’s Lawn and Garden Dept. in 2016 at the age of 84.

Janet was a member of Blessed Mary Angela Parish (St. Hyacinth’s), the Rosary Society of BMA and the Dunkirk Senior Center.

Janet was married to Edward A. Adamczak on October 8, 1955, until his his death on Dec. 26, 1996. They had five children together: Lynn Ziegler of Dunkirk, Douglas (died Dec. 18, 2018), Sue Konko (Don Pillittere) of Spencerport, Barbara (Jerry) Carr of Dunkirk, and Tim (Gen) Adamczak of Albany.

Also surviving are her grandchildren: Jason (Amy) Ziegler, Jonathan (Kelly) Ziegler, Ryan Konko (Angie Stewart), Jeffrey (Amanda) Konko, Gabrielle Carr, Sarah (Zach) Bernier, David Konko, Katherine Carr, Gabe Robertson, and Lola and Rocco Adamczak. Six great grandchildren also survive along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, husband and son, Janet was also predeceased by all of her siblings and their spouses: Frank Acquavia, Nellie (Jazz) Leone, Rev. Msgr. Pat Acquavia, Rose (Louie) Skelly, Mary Acquavia, Nancy (Sam) St.George, and Helen (Horace) Pantano.

Janet donated her body to the Anatomical Gift Program at the University of Buffalo.
