John R. Fedyszyn

On Thursday, April 8, 2021, John R. Fedyszyn passed away at the age of 45.

John was born on July 17, 1975 in Dunkirk, N.Y., to Darlene and John E. Fedyszyn.

He attended Fredonia High School from 1989-1993, donning number 77 while playing on offensive line for the Hillbillies. He later attended Alfred College where he was a member of Kappa Sigma Epsilon Fraternity and received his undergraduate degree in 1997, and subsequently entered the U.S. Army. He then attended Eastern Kentucky University and received a Bachelor of Science degree in 2017. He was employed at American Fire Technologies in Wilmington.

Other positions and projects include NASA fire protection and troubleshooting, Wilmington Airport Control Tower design and installation of fire protection, Cape Fear Community College design and installation, University of North Carolina, design and installation of fire protection. Relocating to Wilmington in 1998, John worked as an electrical engineer, designing and installing fire alarms systems all over the world.

John married Joy Fulford from Beaufort, N.C., in 2009, and Cora Fedyszyn was born in 2011. He was a loving husband and father. “Feddy” was known for his wry smile and sense of humor, his outgoing charismatic demeanor and personality, never knowing a stranger, and offering his generosity at every turn. He has friends spread around the globe and was a dedicated NFL Raiders fan.

He is survived by his wife Joy; daughter, Cora; parents, Darlene and John;, and his sisters: Kimberly (Eirik) Ellis, Julie (Charles) Kuell and Jennifer (Brad) McIlvain; many nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles, and many friends.
