James Leroy “Big Bird” Kroah

BROCTON – James Leroy “Big Bird” Kroah, 66 of Brocton, N.Y., passed away peacefully Tuesday, June 8, 2021, at home following a brief battle with cancer.

James was born Dec. 4, 1954, in Bradford, Pa., to the late Mary (Starkey) Knight and Robert Kroah.

He was a graduate of Bradford High School.

After moving to New York, he was employed by X – CEL Services until a work related injury forced him to retire.

Jim enjoyed spendind time with his family and friends. He was an avid Buffalo Bills fan, enjoyed NASCAR, WWE wrestling, watching old western movies, collecting shot glasses and knives.

He especially enjoyed spending time with his newest granddaughter, who was the apple of his eye, Zariana, and his adopted granddaughter Skye.

Jim is survived by his loving wife of 28 years, Denise (Pierce), his step-father Terry Knight, his brothers Joe (Debbie) Kroah and John (Marge) Kroah, both of Bradford, Pa., his children Jimmy Joe Kroah of St. Mary’s, Pa., William (Tina) Kroah, Brenda Bailey both of Bradford, Pa., Brandon Orlando, Williamsville, N.Y., Dustin Orlando and Ariana Kroah both of Brocton, N.Y., and Michalia Kroah of Dunkirk, N.Y. He is further survived by grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents Jim was preceded in death by his brother Jerry in 2020.

Friends and family are invited to attend visiting hour from 11 a.m. until 12 p.m. where funeral services will begin at noon in the Hope Rising Church, 9 Highland Avenue on Friday, June 11, 2021, with Pastor Nate McCullum officiating. Private burial will follow in Stockton Greenwood Cemetery, Stockton, N.Y.

Memorial contributions in honor of James can be made to the Northern Chautauqua Canine Rescue, 7540 N Gale St, Westfield, NY 14787.
