Patricia Ann Frey (Jan. 2, 1934 to June 14, 2021)

Patricia Ann Frey passed into the arms of family before her and those she compassionately cared for during her many years of nursing.

Daughter of the late William and Maxine (Drohen) Reed, Patricia was a life-long resident of the City of Dunkirk.

A member of the Dunkirk High School Class of 1951, she went on to complete her Registered Nursing degree at Millard Fillmore School of Nursing graduating in 1954. Patricia was a compassionate and dedicated nurse who’s career spanned many decades at Brooks memorial Hospital in a variety of supervisory positions retiring in 1999 as the Infection Control Officer and Nursing Supervisor.

Patricia’s dedication carried over into her community and church where she wore many hats over the year. Scout Leader, Religious Education (CCD) instructor, and parent volunteer at St Mary’s School where her children attended.

Patricia was a passionate member of The Board of Directors at the Dunkirk Free Library, where she tirelessly worked to see it through a number of restorations, renovations, and eventual accessibility for handicapped individuals. Upon Retirement she served a period of time as a member of the Brooks Memorial Hospital Board of Directors.

Outside organizational memberships included Jayncees, Brooks Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, and The Dunkirk Senior Center where she volunteered at many events and did monthly blood pressure screenings for it’s members.

Pat was affectionately known as the “Neighborhood Nurse” and unofficial nurse of Van Buren Point, where she and her family spent their summers for over 70 years.

Dedicated wife of 63 years to the later Honorable Richard L. Frey past Mayor of the City of Dunkirk.

Mother of Michael (Ft. Collins, Colorado), Deborah (Thomas) Rozumalski of Dunkirk, William (Mary) Frey (Durango, Colorado), and Timothy (Martha) Frey of Dunkirk.

Devoted and adored grandmother of T.J. (Lindsey) Frey, Katie (Jason) Cieslewicz, Thomas (Jamie) Rozumalski, Tyler (Morgan) Frey, Molly (Miles) Anderson, Michael Rozumalski and Reed Frey.

Pat was a loving Great-Grandmother to Harper, Lillian, Tate, Lyza, Noah, and Ashton. Patricia is further survived by her sister Judith (Tim) Quinlan of Latham, N.Y., and a number of nieces and nephews.

Per Patricia’s wishes there will be no prior visitation and a Memorial Mass will be held Tuesday, June 22, 2021, at 10 a.m. at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church where COVID restrictions will be enforced. Interment will be in Willowbrook Park Cemetery.
