Evelyn L. Hubacher

Born in New Ashford, NY, April 14, 1928, the daughter of John and Bertha ( Hintz) Hagen.

Evelyn married Norman G. Hubacher on December 24, 1949. Norman passed away January 15, 2009.

Evelyn was a postal clerk at the Versailles Post Office. She also worked at the Garden Gate Nursery in Perrysburg.

She was an active member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Gowanda where she participated with the lady’s aid group of the church. While in Versailles she was active with the Versailles Volunteer Fire Dept. Ladies Auxiliary.

Evelyn was instrumental in getting the Gowanda Post Office rebuilt after a devastating fire in 1970; she turned in thousands of signatures through circu-ating petitions.

Evelyn is survived by five children: Kenneth (Kathy) Hubacher of Geneseo, Roger (Cynthia) Hubacher of Grand Island, Larry (Monica) Hubacher of Ga., David (Jenny) Hubacher of Wheatfield and Donna (Anthony) Paternostro of South Dayton; nine grandchildren: Matthew, Daniel, Michael, Brian, Jennifer, Kristin, Ryan James and Jennifer; nine great-grandchildren along with several nieces and nephews also survive .

Besides her husband of 60 years Evelyn was preceded in death by a brother, Irvin, and his wife, Dorothy Hagen; sister, Marie, and husband, Wilbur Lehning, also preceded her.

Friends may call Friday July 23, 2021, from 4-7 p.m. from the SCHINDLER FUNERAL HOME 44 Center St. Gowanda (masks required if not fully vaccinated). A private family funeral will take place Saturday July 24, 2021, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Gowanda with interment to follow in the Versailles Cemetery.
