Sandra G. Samuelson

Sandra G. Samuelson, 60, of Dunkirk, passed away Friday (July 2, 2021) at Mercy Hospital in South Buffalo, surrounded by family.

She was born in Dunkirk on April 27, 1961, the daughter of Paul R. and Phyllis M. (Burlett) Fellinger.

Sandy graduated from Dunkirk High School, class of 1979. She married Thomas M. Samuelson in Las Vegas, Nev., on Oct. 15, 1987.

Sandy started working for the former Cliffstar Corporation shortly after graduating from high school. Even though the company has gone through changes in recent years, she remained a hardworking and dedicated employee. Sandra was still employed with Refresco Beverages of Dunkirk, at the time of her death.

Sandy loved sports, especially the Buffalo Sabres, the L.A. Dodgers and the L.A. Rams. She even named her Golden Retriever “Patty” to honor her favorite Buffalo Sabre, Pat Lafontaine.

A dedicated wife, mother and grandmother, her love for her three grandchildren gave her every reason to be proud .

Some of Sandra’s past and present memberships include: Northern Chautauqua Conservation Club, the Columbus Club and the Dom Polski Club of Dunkirk.

Survivors include her mother, Phyllis M. Fellinger of Dunkirk; her husband of nearly 34 years Thomas M. Samuelson; their children: Teresa (Victor) Diaz of Tonawanda, N.Y., and Paul Samuelson of Dunkirk; and three grandchildren: Aurora, Elina and Emilio Diaz. Sandra is also survived by her siblings: Susan Reynolds of Virginia, Craig (Ann) Fellinger of Fredonia and Gretchen (Tony) Mackowiak of Dunkirk. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Besides her father, Paul R. Fellinger, Sandy was preceded in death by a brother, Brian Fellinger.

As per Sandy’s wishes, there will be no public wake or service. The family will bury Sandy privately in the Samuelson family plot at the Holy Cross Cemetery in Gowanda on Wednesday, July 7, 2021. A Celebration of life for Sandy will be held at Point Gratiot in Dunkirk, one of Sandy’s favorite places. All are invited to celebrate Sandy’s life, on Aug. 22, at noon.
