Ione A. Perry

Ione A. Perry, 84, of East Middle Road, Sheridan, N.Y., passed away peacefully on Friday, Aug. 27, 2021, at Buffalo General Hospital surrounded by her loving family.

She was born Jan. 19, 1937, in Irving, N.Y., the daughter of the late Richard D. and Lyva M. (Gunther) Cody.

Ione loved all her children and grandchildren, sharing her ideas of creating crafts and her family recipes. She loved to sing and participated for many years with the Dunkirk-Fredonia choir in which she performed many local holiday concerts.

In her younger years, she worked at the New York Telephone Co. and after raising her children, she worked numerous years with Lake Shore Nursing Home in Irving, N.Y., as an activity’s coordinator.

Ione was a dedicated mother first and foremost. She treasured her children and grandchildren and would embrace every moment with them. She will be sadly missed by all her family and friends, we will never forget her tenacity, wit, undying love and caring for all of them.

Survivors include her four sons: Kevin (Marsha) Perry of Sheridan, N.Y., Ty Perry and Kurt (Sabrina) Perry of Dunkirk, and Timothy Perry of Sheridan.

She is also survived by 13 grandchildren: Kristen (Erik) Nixon, Megan (Ermin) Sabljakovic, Andrea, Brandon, Aubriana, Lilyana, Ashley Jo, Christopher, Elizabeth, Keith and Noah Perry, Phillip McKeown and Samuel Chiappone; eight great-grandchildren: Preston and Alyshia Perry, Kaleb and Logan Nixon, Eli Sabljakovic, Zachary Smith, Ivy Rose Carlson and Kaidy Smith.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 55 years, Keith E. Perry, whom she married on Feb. 27, 1960; her sister, Eudora M. (Cody) Wisniewski; and a brother, Douglas A. Cody.

There will be no public visitation. A memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family with a date and time to be announced.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Sheridan Fire Department.
