Elizabeth Tonello

GOWANDA — Elizabeth “Lizzie” Tonello, 27, of Johnson Street, passed away Thursday, Oct, 21, 2021, less than an hour after her father, due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident on Sand Hill in the town of Collins.

Elizabeth was born at Children’s Hospital in Buffalo March 15, 1994, the daughter of John and Theresa (Durzewski) Tonello.

A graduate of Gowanda Central, Lizzie was in the class of 2012. She worked as a teaching assistant for the Gowanda Central School District, she worked in the Special Ed. Dept. for the past seven years. Prior to that she was a teaching assistant for pre-K. Elizabeth also worked at the Creekside Market in Collins, she loved Jesus, was a member of the Gowanda Free Methodist Church where she had just started teaching Sunday school. Kids were her passion. She loved to read and enjoyed different venues of music, she loved to mow and garden like her father and was very competitive growing up.

Surviving besides her mother, Theresa is her boyfriend, Sean Gabel; her siblings: John (Jaime) Tonello of Glen Allen, Va., Matthew (Ginnette) Tonello of Springville, Daniel (Alicia) Tonello of Gowanda, David (Alexis) Tonello of Collins, Jeremiah (Erin) Tonello of Gowanda, Theresa Tonello of Amherst, Mary Tonello of Collins, Sarah (Micah) Seiler of Collins. Rebecca Tonello of Collins, Rachel (Gerard) Tonello of Gowanda and Eliana Tonello of Gowanda. Aunts, uncles and cousins also survive as do nieces and nephews.

Besides her father John J. Tonello (October 21, 2021) Elizabeth was preceded in death by a brother, Judah Tonello (June 13, 1995).

Friends may call at the SCHINDLER FUNERAL HOME, 44 Center Street Gowanda, NY 14070 where her wake will be at the same time as her father’s Monday, Oct. 25, 2021 from 1-4 and 6-8 p.m., masks required if not fully vaccinated). Her and her father’s funeral will be held Tuesday, Oct. 26, 2021 at 11 a.m., from the Gowanda Free Methodist Church, 149 W. Main St., Gowanda, NY 14070. (Please assemble at church.) Burial to follow in the Jolls Cemetery, town of Perrysburg. A funeral luncheon will be held following the burial at Jolls at the Master’s Plan Community Church, 9586 Railroad St., Dayton, NY 14041.

Memorials if desired may be made to the Master’s Plan Community Church or the Gowanda Free Methodist Church or to a local charity of ones choice.
