Joan D. Joy
Joan D. Joy, 87, wife of Donald R. Joy, passed away peacefully Thursday, Sept. 23, 2021, in Myrtle Beach, S.C. She was born Aug. 25, 1934, in Jamestown, N.Y., the daughter of the late Richard and Marcella Armstrong.
Joan retired from the Hecht Company department store in Gaithersburg, Md/, and was of the Presbyterian faith. She moved with her husband to the Myrtle Beach area in 1996. She enjoyed music and taking classes at Coastal Carolina University. Other hobbies included playing canasta with neighbors and baking for her family.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children: Linda S. Joy of Rockville, Md., Kathleen Ford (Shannon) of Prague Czech Republic, and David R. Joy (Christoffel) of Washington, D.C.; her grandchildren: Cameron Ford and Carson Ford; and a great-grandchild, Emma Kate Ford.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Joy was predeceased by her sister, Susan Zahner.
A memorial service and inurnment will be held at the Westfield-Portland Union Cemetery, East Main Road, Westfield, N.Y., on Saturday, Nov. 13, 2021, at 11 a.m.
