Julie E. Wilcox

Julie E. Wilcox, 64, of Sunset Bay, Irving, N.Y., died Friday morning (Oct. 22, 2021) at home after a courageous battle with cancer.

She was born Dec. 8, 1956, in Wigan, England, the daughter of the late Ronald P. and Edith (Lewis) Wright.

A lifelong resident of the area, Julie was a graduate of Dunkirk High School, class of 1976. She was a member of St. John The Baptist Episcopal Church in Dunkirk. Julie was a lover of animals but English Bulldogs (which she bred) and horses were among her favorites. For the last several years Julie and her husband and occasionally her daughter would spend time with the local birds in Silver Creek. They knew her and would come to her and eat from her hand. Being out in nature brought her joy. She was very interested in flying and she had been taking flying lessons to become a small plane pilot, she was very passionate about it. Julie enjoyed crafts and baking with her family. She had a great love of old movies and musicals passed down from her mother which she also passed down to her daughter. She nurtured a love of music and the arts in her children. Taking her children to several big theatrical musical over the years. She had been enjoying spending time with her only grandchild, Julian L Perry born just this last June.

Survivors include her husband, John A. Wilcox; one son, John R. Wilcox of Irving; one daughter, Chelse L. (David Perry) Wilcox of Dunkirk; grandson, Julian L. Perry; and two sisters, Carol (late Kip) Ames of Brocton and Lisa (Kurt) Warmbrodt of Dunkirk. She is also survived by several nephews and nieces.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Stephen P. Wright.

Memorial services will be held at a later date.
