Matthew M. Buchanan-Ruiz

He was born June 20, 1991, in Dunkirk, the son of Ricardo and Sonia (Buchanan) Ruiz of Orchard Park.

A lifelong Dunkirk resident, Matthew was a graduate of Dunkirk High School, class of 2010. He was a parishioner of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church.

Matthew was a very loving, humble, caring, and kindhearted person. He had a smile that was contagious and would light up the room when he walked in. He will be missed by everyone who knew him. His presence was very much felt. Matthew was a loving son, husband, brother, and father to his girls.

Besides his parents, he is survived by his wife, Ciara (Camacho) Buchanan; five daughters: Cianalise, Londyn, Nevaeh, Jaeliani, and Brielle Buchanan; three brothers Twain Buchanan, Marquel (Ariel Prowse) Buchanan-Ruiz, and Tyreek Buchanan-Ruiz; and several nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles.

Matthew was preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents; and mother-in-law, Blanca “Moggie” Nieves.

Calling hours will be held Tuesday, Nov. 23, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the McGraw-Kowal Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, Nov. 24, at 10 a.m. in St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
