Daniel John Jr.
INVERNESS, Fla. — Daniel John Jr., 63, of South Loop in Steamburg, N.Y., and of Panasoffkee, Fla., passed away Sunday, Jan. 9, 2022, in Citrus Memorial Hospital in Inverness, Fla., after a brief illness.
He was born Dec. 9, 1958, in Jamestown, the son of the late Daniel John Sr. (2020) and Ruth R. (Williams) John of Irving (Cattaraugus Territory)
He was an enrolled member of the Seneca Nation of Indians, Bear Clan. After graduating from Salamanca High School, He served honorably in the U.S. Navy from May 27, 1976 until his discharge on May 23, 1980. He then served in the U.S. Army in the Active Reserves for many years.
Dan retired from SKF-TRW-MRC in Falconer after many years of service. He was also a former Seneca Nation Marshall Chief on the Allegany Territory. He was a member of the Levant Wesleyan Church in Falconer.
He enjoyed anything outdoors, he enjoyed camping and racing was in his blood. He built and modified many stock cars and built Go Carts and four wheelers for his children and grandkids.
He is survived by his companion, Betty Weilacher; seven children; Joshua W. John, Jordan L. John, Brianne L. John, Keana E. John, Kerri Santiago, Kalie J. (Mohawk) Williams and Sonny R. George, all of Steamburg; 14 grandchildren; four siblings: Danita Gorman, Denise Wisniewski, Michael John and Michele Keyes. Additional step-siblings: Maurice John, James John (deceased), Helen Fourkiller and Carol Brooks- Matsuhiro.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Debbie (Johnson) John on June 8, 2018.
The family will receive relatives and friends from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday (January 19, 2022) from the VanRensselaer & Son Funeral Home, 14 Church St., Randolph, NY 14772. Funeral services be held at the convenience of the family. The Rev. Al Meyers senior pastor of the Levant Wesleyan Church will officiate. Burial will be in the Hillside Haven Cemetery, Bunker Hill Road, Steam-burg, NY.
