Michele Elaine “Mickey” (Tooley) Burau

Michele Elaine “Mickey” (Tooley) Burau of Silver Creek, N.Y., died Jan. 11, 2022, at Mercy Hospital in Buffalo, N.Y., following a long illness.

Michele was born in Silver Creek, N.Y., on Oct. 19, 1949. to the late Carlus H. and Camilla D. Tooley.

She was a graduate of Forestville High School, class of 1968. She married the love of her life, James R. Burau on March 31, 1970 and again on Aug. 7, 1971. Together, they raised two children: Christina and Robert.

Michele will always be remembered as a wonderful wife, mother, sister, aunt, godmother and friend. She loved her family very much. They were the joy of her life. Even through all of her suffering, she never complained and always greeted you with her beautiful smile.

Michele loved Mickey Mouse, turtles, owls, and tigers. She also enjoyed quilting, Artex painting, and working in her flower garden, especially nurturing her antique roses and Rose of Sharon bushes.

Michele is survived by her loving husband, James; her daughter, Christina (Gerald Williams Jr.) Thies; and son, Robert Burau. She will be truly missed by her granddaughters: Jessica Reyes and Megan Parker; grandson, Daniel; and great-grandsons: Leon and Troy Reyes. Michele is further survived by her brothers: Harold “Wayne” (Dorothea) Tooley and Claude “Randy” (Jackie) Tooley of Forestville, N.Y., and Kenneth (Katherine) Tooley of Fredonia, N.Y.; sister, Jane (Kenneth) Thomas of Cherry Creek’ and sister-in-law, Randee Tooley of Falconer.

Besides her parents, Carlus and Camilla, Michele was preceded in death by a brother, Johnny Ray Tooley.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
