WESTFIELD -- Daniel E. Devlin, 66, of Westfield, NY, passed away peacefully Wednesday evening, March 2, 2022, in Westfield Memorial Hospital with his sister and nephew by his side following a brief illness.
Dan was born January 2, 1956, in Westfield, NY, a son to Emmett F. and Norma Burkhalder Devlin.
A lifelong resident of Westfield, Dan was a graduate of Westfield Academy and Central School with the class of 1975. Following graduation, Dan went on to Alfred University and studied and became proficient in computer science. He always had an interest in electron-ics and how their components worked and could build a complete computer system from scratch.
He had been employed for years with Chautauqua Energy in Westfield as their IT specialist.
Dan had started his own computer programming and repair business until his retirement.
In his younger years, he and his neighbors formed a band and played rock and roll music. Dan played guitar and had a 12 string guitar in his collection. He served as an Altar boy with the former St. James Roman (now St. Dominic's) Catholic church of Westfield.
In his spare time, he enjoyed boating on Lake Erie, going fishing with friends and camping.
In the winter months, Dan would go along with his folks to their retreat in sunny Florida. He was an avid Buffalo Bills fan and truly loved being around people.
He was a member of the VFW Post 6764 in Westfield, NY.
Dan is survived by his father Emmett, sister Sandy (John Hancock) Devlin Eckman, all of Westfield, his niece Heather Eckman of Virginia, nephew Donnie (Sarah) Eckman of Westfield, great niece, Grace Norma and great nephew Finn also of Westfield.
In addition to his mother Norma, who passed in 2020, he was preceded in death by his brother David E. Devlin who passed in 2006.
Family and friends may call at the MORSE FUN-ERAL HOME, 51 Highland Avenue, Brocton, NY on Sunday, March 13, 2022, from 2-4 p.m. Funeral services will be held there on Monday, March 14, 2022, at 11 a.m. with Father David Tourville of St. Dominic's RC Church officiating. Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery in Westfield, NY. with a Celebration of Life for all to attend at the Westfield VFW on the corner of Washington and Pearl beginning at 1 p.m.
