Kathie Mae Dean

FORESTVILLE — Kathie Mae Dean, 58, of Putnam Road Forestville, passed away Monday morning, Feb 28, 2022, at home as a result of her long battle with cancer. She was accompanied by her husband, Jeff Dean and family members when she drifted off to be with the Lord.

She was born in Dunkirk on Jan. 23, 1964, the daughter of Linda M. (VanWormer) Fairbanks, of Forestville and the late Douglas L. Fairbanks.

She was a graduate of Forestville Central School, class of 1982 and attended Jamestown Business School. Through her years, she also helped her family on their dairy farm (Fairdawn Farms, Inc.) and the maple syrup business (Fairbanks Maple).

Kathie was a loving and dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, sister and daughter. She lived life with zest, passion and optimism. Kathie was an avid animal lover and enjoyed the simpler things in life such as gardening, blackberry picking and searching for the perfect rock for her collection.

Besides her mother, she leaves behind her husband, Jeffrey A. Dean of Forestville, whom she married in September of 1998, in the Forestville United Methodist Church and renewed their vows in September of 2019, two sons: Dana Meli-Wischman of Silver Creek, and Robert Dean, of Forestville; two daughters: Karlie Meli-Wischman of Cherry Creek, and Christina (Jacob Neamon) Dean, of Cuba, N.Y.; a sister, Laurie (Stephen) Mead of Forestville; two brothers: Douglas J. (Diane Jagodzinski) Fairbanks, of Forestville, and Drew R. (Laura) Fairbanks of San Diego, Calif. Also surviving are a brother-in-law, Mark Harvey of Lake Como, N.Y.; eight granddaughters; one grandson; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides her father, she was predeceased by a brother, Bryon Fairbanks; a sister, Sherry Lynn Fairbanks-Harvey and a sister-in-law, Jennifer Fairbanks.

Friends are welcome to call at Riles & Woolley Funeral Home, 39 Main St., Forestville on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. from where funeral services will be held Saturday at noon with the Rev. Daniel Fiebelkorn, pastor of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Roman Catholic Church, Silver Creek, officiating.
