SILVER CREEK – Gregory L. Meadows, 66, of Silver Creek, N.Y., passed away Tuesday, April 12, 2022, at Brooks Memorial Hospital, following an accident at his home.

Greg was born Dec. 17, 1955, in Dunkirk, N.Y., the son of the late Willis E. and Eleanor J. Burley Meadows.

He had attended Fredonia High School and was a graduate there with the class of 1974. Following high school, Greg had en-listed with the U.S. Air Force and was stationed in Hawaii. He retired after serving 20 years of service with his rank being Master Sgt.

Following his return home with serving his country, Greg had been em-ployed with the New York State Department of Corrections, retiring in 2010, as a lieutenant.

In 1989, Greg married the love of his life, Peggy Wright, and together they enjoyed 33 years of marriage.

When time permitted, Greg enjoyed hiking, skiing, biking, bowling, golfing, and rollerblading. He had even run in nine marathons, including the Boston Marathon twice. But most of all, Greg cherished the times spent with his family and friends.

Left behind to cherish his memories are his loving wife Peggy; his son Aaron Meadows; granddaughters: Jordan and Peyton Meadows and their mother Leah; stepchildren: Patricia Claybrooke, Melinda (Bill) Gill and Colleen Whitehead; and siblings: Butch (Chris) Meadows, Wally Meadows, Cynthia (Joe) Miller, Peggy Bouquin, Ernest (Cheryl) Meadows, Edward (Monica) Meadows, David (Tammy) Meadows, and Paula Meadows. Greg also leaves behind his feline friends: Trudy, Jazzy and Oscar who he loved dearly.

In addition to his parents, Greg was preceded in death by his daughter, Aimee Jo Meadows.

Visitation was held for family and friends Saturday, April 16, 2022, from 1-3 pm at the MORSE FUNERAL HOME, 51 Highland Ave., Brocton, N.Y., where funeral services were held at 3 p.m. with Nathan Wright officiating.

A graveside service in Cassadaga Cemetery with full military honors will be announced at a later date.

Memorial contributions in honor of Greg may be made to the Sheridan Volunteer Fire Department, 2800 Rt. 20, Sheridan, NY 14135.
