Kenneth H. Hollander

Kenneth H. Hollander, 80, of Dunkirk died Friday June 17, 2022, at Brooks Memorial Hospital.

The son of the late Elmer and Josephine (Makuch) Hollander, Ken was a life-long Dunkirk resident and parishioner of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church. Survivors include wife Roberta (Scott) Hollander, brother Allen (Judy) Hollander, and sister Janet (David) Jagoda of Dunkirk, daughter Cindy (David) Handelsman of Cary, NC and daughter Amy (Gene) Fujii of Tokyo, Japan as well grandchildren Sarah and Matthew Handelsman and Laura and Mark Fujii, and numerous nieces and nephews.

A graduate of the Class of 1959 from Cardinal Mindszenty High School, Ken served as a sergeant in the United States Air Force from 1961-1965 and was stationed at Vandenberg Air Force Base in California and Plattsburgh Air Force Base in New York.

As a professional firefighter for the City of Dunkirk from 1971 to 2002, Ken served as a lieutenant. Ken also sold real estate for Midtown Realty.

He was an avid fly fisherman, and he shared that hobby by teaching children how to tie a fish fly at the Northern Chautauqua Conservation Club in Dunkirk. He served on the Democratic Local Committee of Dunkirk.

Private funeral services were held at the convenience of the family. Entombment is in the Pieta Mausoleum of St. Mary’s Cemetery. Arrangements were by the McGraw-Kowal Funeral Home.
