BROCTON — Charles J. Cettell Sr., 85, of Brocton, N.Y., died Tuesday, July 26, 2022, in St. Vincent Health Center in Erie, Pa., following a brief illness.
Charles was born Feb. 2, 1937, in Collins, N.Y., a son to Maynard J. and Myrtle M. (Pierce) Cettell.
Following high school, Charles proudly served his country with the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged in 1962.
Following serving his country, Charles was employed as a construction contractor with Laborers local 967 / 210.
He was an avid Buffalo Bills fan who also watched professional wrestling and pay per view events every chance he got. He loved watching old western movies and loved to read western novels. He was a faithful reader of the daily newspaper as well. He loved his two dogs: Puppa and Cuddles, they were his babies. He took joy in getting in his truck and driving around the area. But most of all, Charles loved being with family and watching his grandchildren laugh and play.
Charles leaves behind to cherish his memory, daughters: Carol E. Harwood and Cathy L. Mills; sons: Richard W. Sr., and Joseph D. Cettell; and several grandchildren; greatgrandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and loving wife of 60 years Margaret L., he was preceded in death by three children: Charles Jr., Michael, and Karen Cettell; his siblings: Margaret Knapp, Mildred Schumaker, Clinton Cettell, Esther Sturgill, Ruth Senear, Walter Cettell and Clifford Cettell.
Friends and family are invited to call at the Morse Funeral Home, 51 Highland Avenue, Brocton, N.Y., on Wednesday, Aug. 3, 2022, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m., where a prayer service will be officiated by his grandson, Pastor Daniel Woollett. Burial will follow in Westfield Union Cemetery where full military honors will be accorded by the JW Dill Post 434 honor guard.
