Fernando C. ‘‘Fred’’ Ramos
Fernando C. ”Fred” Ramos of Fredonia, N.Y., died on July 23, 2022, following a long illness, at the Chautauqua Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Dunkirk, N.Y.
He was born in Sabana, Puerto Rico on June 20, 1922, to the late Silvane Cruz and Kladia Ramos.
Fred had just turned 100 years old on his recent birthday. He was raised and received his education in Puerto Rico.
Fernando and his late wife, Sarah Destro Ramos resided on Liberty Street in Fredonia, N.Y. He enjoyed gardening and was well known for his award winning tomatoes.
During his working career, Fred was employed at the Ferro Company, Uniontown, Ohio, in the paint division. and at the former Red Wing plant in Fredonia, N.Y.
Fernando is survived by his two sons: Anthony (Sandra) Destro and Thomas Destro of Dunkirk, N.Y.; and daughter, Sharon (Jessie) Marino of Fredonia, N.Y. He will be truly missed by his grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Being a member of St. Anthony’s Parish in Fredonia, N.Y., his Mass of Christion Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, July 28, 2022, at 10 a.m., with Father Joseph Walter as the celebrant. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend the Funeral Mass.
Interment will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Sheridan, N.Y.
