Gloria M. (Halpainy) Colt

She was born July 4, 1948 in Dunkirk, N.Y., the daughter of Pauline Wiens (Johnson).

Gloria was a graduate of Brocton Central School class of 1967. In 1968, following high school, she married the love of her life, Dennis L. Colt, and together they raised two wonderful boys. Gloria enjoyed being a stay-at-home mom while their sons: Dennis Jr., and Bryan, were growing.

She became employed with the Dunkirk Phone Company and then later Welch’s and retired from SUNY Fredonia as an FSA employee.

Gloria was an auxiliary member of the J.W. Dill Post 434 American Legion of Brocton and enjoyed volunteering there.

When time permitted, she enjoyed traveling, bingo, yahtzee, bowling, playing cards and making candy. But most of all, she loved being a grandma to her loving grandchild, Brody.

Left behind to cherish her memories are her mother, Pauline Wiens, of Brookings, Ore.; her sons, Bryan (Abby) Colt of Brocton, N.Y., and Dennis Colt, Jr. of Fredonia, N.Y.; cherished grandson, Brody Colt; sisters: Judy Peterson of Corning, Calif., and Joyce Higgins of Paradise, Calif.; and her brother, David Kelly of Brocton, N.Y.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 47 years, Dennis L. Colt, who passed away Oct. 14, 2015.

Visiting hours for friends and family will be held Thursday, July 7, 2022, from 12:30 until 2:30 p.m., where a brief prayer service will take place at the Morse Funeral Home, 51 Highland Ave., Brocton, N.Y., followed by interment in Portland Evergreen Cemetery in Portland, N.Y.
