Floyd R. ‘Sonny’ Carpenter Jr.
BROCTON — Floyd R. ‘Sonny’ Carpenter Jr., 84, formerly of Brocton and Ocala, Fla., passed away peacefully Aug. 5, 2022, at the Chautauqua Nursing and Rehabilitation Center following an extended illness.
Sonny was born in Stockton, N.Y., on July 31, 1938, a son of the late Floyd R. Carpenter Sr. and Virginia Davison Carpenter.
He retired from the New York State Department of Transportation, Fredonia, N.Y., as a foreman in 1993 after 37 years of service.
He was an avid golfer and was a life member of the Westfield Moose Lodge 118.
Floyd is survived by his daughter, Debra (Ronald) Pacos of Fredonia; two sons: Richard Carpenter of Fredonia, N.Y., and Rockledge, Fla., and Daniel (Robin) Carpenter of Tiffin, Ohio; two granddaughters: Sarah (Roberto) Artieda of Fredonia, N.Y., and Maddalyn (Nathaniel) Carpenter-Boyd of Toledo, Ohio; and a great-grandson, Leonardo Artieda of Fredonia, N.Y.
In addition to his parents, Floyd was preceded in death by his wife of almost 60 years, the late Catherine Spinuzza Carpenter; three brothers: Wayne, James, and David Carpenter; and an infant grandson, Devin Carpenter.
Friends and family may call at the Morse Funeral Home, 51 Highland Ave., Brocton, N.Y., on Tuesday, Aug. 9, 2022 from 1-2 p.m., where funeral services will begin with the Rev. Jim Witherington officiating. Private burial will be in Portland Evergreen Cemetery.
