COLLINS–Walter A. Jensen, 80, of Collins, passed away at home Wednesday morning, Aug. 24, 2022, surrounded by family .
Born in Collins, Dec. 28, 1941, the son of Bert and Edna ( Bastedo) Jensen .
A dairy farmer his whole life, Walt and his family owned and operated Jensen Acres Dairy Farm in Collins. He was forced to slow down once his health started declining which was a very difficult thing for him to do.
Walt was an exempt member of the Collins Center Fire Department and was a former board of director member for the Collins Center United Methodist Church .
Walt married Judith A. Heath at the Collins Center United Methodist Church on Aug. 4, 1962.
Walt enjoyed farming and woodworking .
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Judith A. (Heath) Jensen; their children: Donna (Daryll) Dieter of Murfreesboro, Tenn, Peggy (Nicholas) Paul of Sturgeon, Mo., and Daniel Jensen of Collins; grandchildren: Ashley (Mark) Darling, Karen Chandler and Nathaniel Paul; great-grandchildren: Matthew Barber, Sierra and Sarena Darling and Kaylee Chandler. Walt is also survived by siblings: Margaret (late Norman) Spengler of Collins, Shirley Dash of Gowanda, James late Sally) Jensen of Collins, and Douglas (Susan) Jensen of Collins; several nieces and nephews; along with a sister-in-law, Jean Jensen of Collins.
Besides his parents, Walt was preceded in death by a son, Michael A. Jensen (April 15, 2015); a brother, Richard Jensen; and sisters: Betty Redding and Eleanor Arendt.
As per Walt’s request a private family burial will take place in the Collins Center Cemetery .
Arrangements are by the SCHINDLER FUNERAL HOME, 44 Center St., Gowanda .
If desired, memorials may be made to a local charity of ones choice .
