Billie Maxine Markham

Billie Maxine Markham, 95, of Ripley, N.Y., passed away on Saturday, Sept. 10, 2022. She was born in Union City, Pa., the daughter of the late William A. and Margaret (Foster) Gillett. Billie married Emory (Pat) Markham on June 14, 1947, and he preceded her in death on March 13, 2008.

She is survived by her children: Bob (Kate) Markham, Peggy (Chuck) Pettibone and Patti (Mark) LeFever. Grandchildren: Kent (Melinda) and Karla Markham, Michael (Marcy) Pettibone, Alan (Joanna) and Sara LeFever; Great-grandchildren: Sasha, Collin, Austin and Owen Pettibone, Finley and Beckett LeFever and Alexander Markham; and great-great-grandchild, Kaylee Grace.

She was preceded in death by sisters: Anabel Sherwood and Martha Dyne; a brother, William E. Gillett; and a loving cousin, Frannie Johnston.

Billie was a charter member of the Ripley Hose Auxiliary Company, her other memberships included the Westfield Moose Lodge 118, the Order of the Eastern Stars and the Ripley United Methodist Church.

Billie worked at the Ripley Central School Cafeteria for over 20 years and had many wonderful memories of the people she worked with and the children she served throughout the years.

She enjoyed her family, especially summer times at her pool. Billie and Pat enjoyed traveling especially to New England, Williamsburg, Florida and Myrtle Beach.

There will be no calling hours and services will be private as per Billie’s request.

The family suggests memorial contributions to the Ripley United Methodist Church, 84 W. Main St. Ripley, NY 14775 or the Ripley Hose Co., 11 South State St. Ripley, NY 14775.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Mason Funeral Home, 37 Clinton St. Westfield, NY.
