SILVER CREEK — David J. DeMatteo, 82, of Main Street, Silver Creek, died Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2022 at Brooks Memorial Hospital, Dunkirk. He was born in Erie, Pa., on June 22, 1940, the son of the late Nicholas and Ann (Gianantonio) DeMatteo.
Mr. DeMatteo was a graduate of Strong Vincent High School, Erie, Pa., and received his masters degree from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. He was a business and keyboarding teacher at Silver Creek Central School from 1964-93. Mr. DeMatteo was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Roman Catholic Church, Silver Creek, and loved golfing.
Survivors include his wife Carrie J. (Joy) DeMatteo of Silver Creek, whom he married on April 19, 1965, in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Roman Catholic Church, Silver Creek; a son, Nicholas (Linda) DeMatteo, of Fairport, NY; and a daughter, Frances Page, of Silver Creek. Also surviving are three grandchildren: David Page, Samantha Page and Morgan DeMatteo; and many nieces & nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a son-in-law, Vaughn Page,II.
Friends are welcome to call at Riles & Woolley Funeral Home, 39 Main St., Forestville, on Monday from 5-8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday morning at 10 p.m. from Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Roman Catholic Church, 165 Central Ave., Silver Creek, with the Rev. Daniel Fiebelkorn, pastor, officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Silver Creek.
