SILVER CREEK — Norbert E. Czarnecki, 83, of Crandall Avenue, Silver Creek, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2022, while on a trip with the senior citizens, in Portsmouth, N.H. He was born in Buffalo on June 3, 1939, the son of the late Henry and Emily (Wojicak) Czarnecki.
Norbert served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War. He received the Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon and Air Force Good Conduct Medal. Norbert also served in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves.
He worked as a station operator for National Fuel Gas in the Nashville, N.Y. station, for 28 years. Norbert was a co-owner (with his late wife, Lu), delivery man & designer for the former Foliage House Florist, Silver Creek. He was a member of Faith Community of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel RC Church Silver Creek, the Knights of Columbus, was a cast member at Disney in Florida, a former Cub Scout Master, former Trustee & Deputy Mayor for the Village of Silver Creek, a member of the Grape Festival Committee & the Fredonia Senior Citizens. Norbert loved his RV & traveling.
Survivors include a daughter, Deborah (Anthony) Sack, two sons Kevin (Michelle) Czarnecki, Mark (Kimberly) Czarnecki and daughter in law Mary Czarnecki. Also surviving are six grandchildren; Joel, Emily, Justyn, Sara, Madison and Rachel, four great grandchildren Brayden, Gianna, Henry, Ellison and good friend Phyllis Niedbalski.
Besides his parents he was predeceased by his wife Lucreacia “Lu” M. (Maxim) Czarnecki, whom he married on October 29, 1960 in Buffalo and who died March 26, 2012, a son Albert Czarnecki who died January 13, 2021 and a brother Richard Czarnecki.
Friends are welcome to call at Riles & Woolley Funeral Home, 39 Main Street, Forestville on Friday morning from 9:30-10:30. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 o’clock from Faith Community of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel RC Church, 165 Central Avenue, Silver Creek, with Rev. Daniel Fiebelkorn officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Silver Creek where Military Service will be conducted by members of Samuel Cimino VFW Post 6472, Silver Creek.
The family suggests memorials may be made either to Silver Creek Fire Dept. Emergency & Rescue Squad, 162 Central Avenue, Silver Creek, NY 14136 or to Lakeshore Humane Society, 431 E. Chestnut Street, Dunkirk, NY 14048.
