Christine “Chris” Elizabeth VeStrand

Chris was born December 25, 1935, in Taunton, Massachusetts a daughter to Emmanuel and Lottie (Lopes) Silvia.

She graduated from Taunton High School in 1953. During summer breaks from school Chris had worked at Foster Metal and had worked where her mother did at the Curtain Factory from 1954 until 1955.

Chris married the love of her life, Allen VeStrand, on July 6, 1957, and together they raised four children.

Once their children were all in school, Chris began working at the Westfield Veterinary Hospital beginning in 1972 and retired from there after 27 years in 1999. Her and Allen relocated to Ellenton, Florida in 2012 and enjoyed the warmth and beauty that Florida offers.

Prior to moving to Florida, she was active in her church, the First Baptist Church of Westfield where she participated and enjoyed helping during social events and assisting in the kitchen. She was a member of the Home Bureau and the Westfield YWCA.

When time permitted, Chris liked crocheting, knitting, crafting, sewing, jewelry making, reading, and was known for hosting the best Christmas Eve and Christmas gatherings. She enjoyed watching comedy shows and was an avid Buffalo Bills fan.

Left behind to cherish her memory are her children: Kathleen (Terry) Burns, Nancy (James) Zoda, Jeffrey (Jennifer) VeStrand, and Sherri (Steve) Cochran with whom she lived with in Maine. Also survived by 13 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and her brother Daniel (Pat) Silvia of Taunton, Maine.

In addition to her parents, Chris was preceded in death by her loving husband Allen Cornell VeStrand who passed away September 29, 2021.

No prior visitation will be observed per Chris’s wishes, all services will be held privately.
