Kathaleen Dorris (Groves)

She was born December 19, 1942; the daughter of Arnold Groves and Margery (Wilsie) Groves. She graduated from Randolph in 1961.

Kathaleen went on to marry the love of her life, Walter (Skip) Penfield on December 22, 1961. Together they had two children, Leo Howard and Ruth Elaine.

She was a navy wife for 21 years. Traveling the world, living in Naples, Virginia, Cyprus, and Alaska before settling back home in Randolph, NY. She shared many adventures with her husband and children. She loved her country as much as her family.

Her loss is felt by her family and friends. She will be missed dearly.

In her younger years she was an avid bowler, square dancer, and life member of the Ladies Auxiliary, Post 2522. She loved history and meeting new people. She enjoyed crocheting and crafting; always making special gifts for her family. She spent every moment with her children and grand children; never missing an event no matter how big or small.

Kathaleen is preceeded in death by her son, Leo Howard Penfield. She is survived by her husband, Walter (Skip) Penfield. Daughter, Ruth (Duanne) Lindquist. Grand children, Timothy (Laura) Lindquist; Courtney (Isaiah) Brader; and Shabey (Keith) Hitchcock. As well as many great grand- children.

Her loss is felt by her family and friends. She will be missed dearly.

The family will receive relatives and friends from 10am -12 pm, Monday (January 30, 2023) from the VanRensselaer & Son Funeral Home, 14 Church St., Randolph, Services will follow at 12:00 PM. Grand-daughter, Courtney Brader will officiate. Burial/Inurnment will be in the Rutledge Rural Cemetery in Conewango. Please join the family following the service for a luncheon at the East Randolph VFW Post 6533.
