Richard W. Cettell Sr.

WESTFIELD – Richard W. Cettell Sr., 61, of Westfield, NY passed away peacefully on April 13, 2023, at his home with his loving family by his side. Rick was born November 16, 1961, the son of Charles Sr. and Margaret (Houser) Cettell.

He grew up and spent most of his life in and around the Brocton and Westfield areas.

Rich had been employed by Laborer’s Local 621 of Olean, NY as a contractor for 38 years, retiring in 2018.

Rick married the love of his life, Joann Campbell, on January 31, 1982, and together raised four children.

He was an avid Buffalo Bill’s fan and loved to watch as many NY Yankee’s games as he could. When time permitted, Rick enjoyed driving his tractor and spending time with his beautiful English Bulldog, Moxie Mae (Mable). But most of all, he loved spending time with his 5 cherished grandchildren, Ashlynn Kelsey, Madison, Cathren, Peyton and his ‘tractor buddy’ Wyatt Cettell.

Left behind to cherish his memory are his wife of 41 years, Joann, his children, Jennifer Cettell, Richard Cettell, Jr., Shawn (Heidi) Cettell, and John Cettell, his siblings, Carol (Jim) Harwood, Cathy Mills, and Joseph (Kelly) Cettell, his five beloved grandchildren, his many nieces and nephews who he loved and cared for and enjoyed those who visited from Michigan, his favorite Ginger “Mitchell” and his ‘big girl Sammy’, brother and sister in laws, Cathy Cettell, Kathleen Palmer, and Tim (Jodi Meyers) Campbell.

In addition to his parents, Rick was preceded in death by his brothers. Michael and Charles Cettell, Jr., sister Karen Cettell, and nephew Jeffrey Woollett.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, April 20, 2023, from 11 am until 1pm where funeral services will be held at the Morse Funeral Home, 51 Highland Avenue, Brocton, NY with Rick’s nephew Daniel Woollett officiating.

Burial will follow in Portland Evergreen Cemetery, Portland, NY.

Memorial contributions in honor of Rick can be made to, St. Jude’s Research Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
