Mark B. Karalus Sr.

Mark B. Karalus Sr, 54 of Dunkirk, died unexpectedly at home on Thursday, May 4, 2023.

Born in Dunkirk on September 28, 1968, son of the late Bernard and Stella (Wawrowski) Karalus.

Mark graduated from Dunkirk High School in 1987 and previously worked for NAPA Auto Parts where he was an outside salesman.

Mark enjoyed football, NASCAR and hockey and was an avid Buffalo Sabres fan. His hobbies include RC trucks and cars and relocating squirrels.

Mark loved to cook, especially for the holidays. He was “family famous” for his homemade fresh polish sausage, and always loved a good fish fry.

Mark will forever be remembered for his sense of humor and his love of John Wick movies. He loved everything Halloween and each year he proudly displayed his massive Spooky Town Halloween village. But most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his children, who he was immensely proud of and loved so very much.

He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Diane (Sell) Karalus, their two children, Mark B. Karalus Jr. of Rochester, NY and Katelyn A.M. Karalus of Dunkirk, NY. Mark is also survived by one sister, Catherine (Thomas) Reilly, nephews Brandon (Katie) Reilly, Alex Reilly, Christopher Reilly and one great- nephew, Patrick Reilly, all of Fredonia, NY.

In addition to his parents, Mark was predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Bernard and Harriet Karalus and his maternal grandparents, Alexander and Viola Wawrowski.

Relatives and friends may call at. the R. Mackowiak Funeral Home Inc, Today from 4-7 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday morning at 10 in Blessed Mary Angela Church of St. Hyacinth. Interment will be in St. Hyacinth’s Cemetery.
