Starr Ann Waller

Starr Ann Waller

Starr Ann Waller was born on August 21, 1968 in Dunkirk, NY to George and Betty (Moreland) Waller and the world became a brighter place.

She graduated from Dunkirk High School in 1986 and went on to attend Bryant and Stratton College to study Fashion. She later, while working full-time, completed her Bachelor of Science degree in Community and Human Services at SUNY Empire State College in 2014.

Starr worked at Brooks-TLC Hospital System as a Medical Social Worker. She loved going above and beyond for her patients and was adored by her co-workers, receiving several acknowledgments and recognitions for her work in changing the lives of others. She held many other positions, as well, including her employment at Golden State Foods, Datrose, and UPMC Chautauqua WCA.

Starr was a two-time breast cancer survivor- once in 2018 and more recently in 2023. She fought it with fierceness and grace both times. Never without a smile or a positive attitude, Starr was the ultimate cheerleader, supporter, confidante and friend, and wherever she was, there was light. But Starr’s greatest passion was being mother to her beautiful children, Jada and Justin, who are the loves of her life. Starr devoted her life to raising them to be the wonderful human beings they are today and a shining example of their mother’s legacy of love.

A lifelong member of the Friendship Baptist Church in Dunkirk, Starr loved the Lord and believed in his word. She held on to his promises for her life and her children who will always remember her spirit and her faith.

Starr peacefully entered into eternal rest on May 26, 2023 surrounded by her loving family and friends.

She was predeceased by her paternal grand- parents Early and Fannie Mae Waller, maternal grandparents Price and Martha Bell Moreland, father George Waller, and sister Rhonda Waller.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her mother Betty (Moreland) Waller, children Jada Neal and Justin Waller, brothers Michael (Curan) Waller and Brian Waller, and devoted best friend Doris White Singletary, nephew Jonas (JoJo) Waller, niece Victoria Mcquiggan, and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Calling hours will be held Thursday, June 1, from 4-6 p.m. at the McGraw-Kowal Funeral Home. A funeral will be held Friday, June 2, at 1 p.m. in Friendship Baptist Church, 18 East Second St., Dunkirk. Pastor Early G. Waller will officiate. Burial will be in St. Josephs Cemetery, Sheridan.
