BROCTON – Willis (Willie) Alvin Orr, 84, of Brocton, NY, formerly of Bradford and Erie, Pennsylvania, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on May 29, 2023, in the presence of his family.
Willis, born on October 11, 1938, in Oil City, PA was the son of the late Samuel Alvin Orr and Mary Margaret Stephens Orr (Tuttle).
Willis was a faithful member of the West Portland Baptist Church. He served in the Pennsylvania National Guard from 1956 to 1963, and was the former owner of Wesleyville Garden Center, Erie, PA.
He retired as Manager of the Jamestown location of Wonder Bread and Hostess Cake in 1995.
Willis, known for his quick wit and sense of humor, brought a smile to every situation. His smile was particularly bright when watching football, especially his beloved Pittsburgh Steelers. Willis enjoyed gardening, bowling, woodworking, puzzles, fishing with his grandchildren and beating everyone at scrabble.
He is survived by Linda (Goodwin) Orr, his loving wife of 56 years, four daughters Kimberly (Timothy) Buss of Westfield, NY, Jeanette (Randy) O’Rourke of Bradford, PA, Carrie Orr of Fredonia, NY, and Mary (Michael) Myers of Ambler, PA, nine grandchildren Michael (Chrissy), Will (Kelly), Zachariah, Sarah, Joshua, Chandler, Courtney, Daniel and Chelsea and four great grandchildren Parker, Beckham, Zoey and Lydia. He will be greatly missed by his canine companion, Bess.
Willis is further survived by siblings, Ruth (the late Tom) Jaskiewicz, David (the late Anna), (Laureen Mumma) Orr, Thomas (Donna) Orr, Margaret (Jerry) Hennen, Phyllis (Ronald) Stelle, Paul (Janis) Orr, John (Bonnie) Orr and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Doris (the late Joseph) Boyle.
Friends and family will be received on Thursday, June 1, 2023, from 2 pm until the time of services at 3pm at the West Portland Baptist Church, 7081 East Route 20, Westfield, NY, with Rev. David Hennen, Willis’s nephew, and the Rev. Charlie Robertson officiating.
Private burial will be in Portland Evergreen Cemetery in Portland, NY.
Funeral arrangements are being cared for and provided by the Morse Funeral Home of Brocton, NY.
