Barney Calhoun

Barney Calhoun, 79, of Sherman, NY, is on his way to meet loved ones who have gone before him; including brothers: Richard, Peter, Stephen, David, Jack, James and parents, Archie and Virginia (Tillotson) Calhoun as he passed away Tuesday June 6, 2023 at home with his loving family at his side. He is survived by: his wife, Betty Phelps Calhoun; daughter, Shirley (Chris) Hammond, of Westfield; sons: Robert (Kris) Calhoun, of Mayville, NY and Jared Calhoun, of Sherman, NY; grandchildren: David and Zachary Calhoun, Brandon Dorman, Emily, Elizabeth and Ethan Hammond and great-grandson Bryson Dorman. A 1962 graduate of Corry High School, Barney was employed by various farms in Chautauqua County and retired at the age of 69. He was an avid reader, enjoyed nature, especially bird watching from his sunroom. He also enjoyed classic country music. Barney had an easy going personality and was an entertaining storyteller. He was loved by many and will be greatly missed. There will be a Celebration of Life held and announced at a later date.
