WESTFIELD – Clara Ann Winkelman, 77, of Westfield, NY, passed on to a place of peace and comfort while at her home surrounded by the love of her family on Saturday, May 27, 2023, following a brief, but fierce battle with pancreatic cancer.

She was born October 15, 1945, in Cleveland, Ohio the daughter of the late Anton and Agnes (Webber) Korinek.

Her kind and generous heart touched many throughout her life. She dearly loved her family and friends and filled her home with warmth and laughter. She gave selflessly to the community and those in need.

Clara enjoyed baking, cooking, and making candy for others. Her hobbies included fishing, gardening, and feeding her birds. She always looked forward to camping with her family/friends and spending time with the “Baker’s Dozen”. She was also an avid reader, always sharing her books with others. Putting together puzzles and solving crosswords were some of her favorite pastimes with her family. Her most memorable trips were the annual “Girl’s Weekend” shopping with her daughters.

Clara retired from Westfield Academy & Central School after more than 20 years; starting as a cafeteria monitor, she worked her way up and was promoted to Cafeteria Manager/Cook. She belonged to the service sorority Laureate Alpha Pi and was a member of the Westfield Moose Lodge 118.

The family expresses heartfelt thanks to the healthcare professionals & staff of Inspira Medical Center in Mullica Hill, New Jersey for Clara’s compassionate care and for going the extra mile to get her back home. Also, sincere gratitude goes to the St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church of Mullica Hill for all their love and spiritual support given to Clara and her family.

Clara is survived by Troy, her loving husband of 57 years; three daughters, Elaine Winkelman, Jennifer (David) Winkelman Mostoller, and Kim (Nicole) Winkelman; three grandsons, Jakob Mostoller, Troy Mostoller and Tristan Moldenhauer; her brother and sister-in-law, Al and Carol Korinek; in-laws, Sally and Ron Catalano; several nieces and nephews; and a multitude of great and great great nieces and nephews.

As per Clara’s wishes, there will not be any viewing or funeral service. A celebration of life will be held by the family to be announced at a later date.

Funeral arrangements are being cared for and provided by the Morse Funeral Home, 51 Highland Avenue, Brocton, NY.
