Marie Evelyn Pendziwiatr

Marie was well loved by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren & family. She was known for her infectious smile and her enormous heart. She was born to Glenn Woodard and Alberta Darling in Portland on Feb. 14, 1948, given the nickname “Valentine” by many of her closest friends and family, whom she spent many years with as a member of the Chautauqua Lake & Funny Farm CB Club. She was known for her compassion, kindness & her cheerful personality. Marie enjoyed spending time with others and forming long-lasting friendships but would say that her favorite thing was being a mother and grandmother.

Marie is predeceased by both her parents and her loving husband Frank Pendziwiatr of Tonawanda, NY, whom she was married to until his passing in 2000. She is also predeceased by her loving companion William “Bill” Gillings whom she spent her golden years with until he passed away in 2016. She was also predeceased by her siblings, Terry Reed, Donald Woodard, and her precious grandson Jesse J. Groves.

Marie is survived by her four children, whom she loved tremendously. Roy (Angela) Groves of Lafayette, Ga., Ron (Barb) Groves of Perrysburg, NY, Tina (Don) Woods of Portland, NY and Allen (Donna) Carlson of Chattanooga, Tenn. She is also survived by her sister Millie Klock of Haines Falls, NY, her beloved 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren along with her precious nieces & nephews.

Marie was immensely proud of her family, and leaves behind nothing but beautiful memories. We may shed some tears, but we will remember to smile because of the life well lived. She has left behind a remarkable legacy that will carry on in the eyes of her children & grandchildren.

Services will be held at FANTAUZZI FUNERAL HOME at 82 E. Main St. in Fredonia, NY, on Saturday, July 1, 2023. Visitation will be from 1-4pm with services immediately following.

A private burial will commence in Lockport, NY at Cold Springs Cemetery.
