Franklin C. Bertino Jr.

SILVER CREEK — Franklin C. Bertino Jr., 66, of Central Avenue, Silver Creek, passed away Friday, July 21, 2023, at his residence.

He was born in Lackawanna on November 14, 1956, the son of the late Franklin C. and Flora Mae (Parks) Bertino, Sr.

Franklin attended Silver Creek School and worked as a dishwasher for Native Pride in Irving until he retired in January 2023. He was a member of the AMVETS in Silver Creek and an honorary member of Silver Creek Hook & Ladder.

Franklin enjoyed playing on Silver Creek pool leagues and loved watching the Buffalo Bills and Sabres. His famous saying was “What’s Happening?”

Survivors include four sisters: Margaret (Michael) Vacanti of Silver Creek; Barbara (Randy) Salsgiver of Kittanning, Pa.; Lorraine Parks of St. Joseph, Mo.; and Mary (Ed) Ernst of Dunkirk; and two brothers: Robert (Terri) Bertino of North Carolina and Jeff (Dar) Rowe of Fredonia. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents he was predeceased by his stepmother, Janet Lynn Bertino.

Frank had many friends who will miss him deeply. The family would like to especially thank Bill and Linda Bender and Tim Voss.

Graveside services will be held at Glenwood Cemetery, Silver Creek, and will be announced at a later date. The family suggests memorials may be made to Silver Creek Fire Dept. Emergency & Rescue Squad, 162 Central Avenue, Silver Creek, NY 14136.
