Juan B. Mendez, of Dunkirk, NY, died at Brooks Memorial Hospital, on July 4, 2023, following a long illness. He was born on Dec. 27, 1944, in Villalba, Puerto Rico, to the late Georgina Echecavarrie and Florencio Mendez.
After his arrival in Dunkirk, NY, he was employed by the Dunkirk Ice Cream Company in the production Department. He worked there until his retirement.
Juan is survived by his wife, Aida Colon Mendez of Dunkirk, NY, his daughters, Georgina Mendez and
Susana Mendez, his son, Jose’ Baez, and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Juan was preceded in death by his son, Humbert Baez of Dunkirk, NY
Juan’s Funeral Service on Tuesday, July 11, 2023. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Service and may call at the FANTAUZZI FUNERAL HOME, 82 East Main St., Fredonia, NY on Sunday, July 9 and Monday, July 10, 2023, from 3-5 PM. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Dunkirk, NY.
