William “Bill” Schank

William “Bill” Schank, 92, grew old gracefully and happily. Formerly of Silver Creek, NY, he passed away March 3, 2023 at home in Hot Springs Village, Arkansas with his loving companion Marie by his side. He was born in Dunkirk, NY on Jan. 30, 1931, the son of the late Nicholas and Bernice (Poleski) Schank. He was a graduate of Silver Creek, class of 1949. He was a member of the Kiwanis Club and in 1960 he was president of the foundation. He owned Schank Auto Parts and Machine Shop in Silver Creek.

In 1974, he relocated to Hot Springs Village, Arkansas where he started Schank Construction Inc. His lucrative business built and designed over 150 homes in the village. He married Margaret (Pratt) Schank formerly from Silver Creek, NY.

He enjoyed cruises, horse betting, blues music, playing cards, golfing, keeping up with the scoop on the Buffalo Bills, and driving his golf cart to the clubs to have cocktails with his friends.

Family and friends will fondly remember his smile and dimples. Survivors include a son William “Billy” Schank, two daughters Elizabeth “Liz” (Joe) Jurczak and Laura Lynden. He also leaves behind his significant other Marie Radcliffe, four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased in death by his infant daughter, Pamela Schank, brother Paul Schank, sister Geraldine Comerford, and wife Margaret “Meg” Schank who passed in 2010.

There was a celebration of life at Sacred Heart Fellowship Hall March 20, 2023 and an Interment and Blessing of ashes March 21st, 2023 at the Cedar Vale Cemetery.
