Lorraine B. (Lehan) McNaughton
Lorraine B. (Lehan) McNaughton
Lorraine B. (Lehan) McNaughton, 88, of Fredonia, passed peacefully on August 6, 2023 at Brooks Memorial Hospital.
She was born on August 9, 1934 in Potsdam, N.Y., the daughter of the late William Lehan and Ruth (Rocker) Lehan of Potsdam N.Y. She married George D. McNaughton on December 27, 1955 and lived in Wisconsin and Michigan while George finished college and settled in the Dunkirk-Fredonia area in 1960. George passed in 1997 after 42 years of marriage.
Lorraine worked as a Telephone Operator in Potsdam, Present Co. in Dunkirk and FSA at Fredonia State University. At Present Company she was not only the manager of the jewelry department, but with her love of jewelry was one of their biggest customers. She enjoyed shopping, browsing in the mall, antiquing with her friend Elaine, decorating and holidays, especially Christmas. Christmas was her favorite holiday and she made it especially memorable for her family every year.
When her grandchildren were born they became her lifeblood and she became deeply involved in their lives. “Grambo” as her grandson Michael called her, rarely missed an activity they were involved in especially games or dance competitions. She and George were their biggest supporters in whatever they were doing. Lorraine was very proud of her Irish heritage.
She is survived by her daughter, Monique “Nikki” McNaughton and son, Michael McNaughton; her grandchildren: Michael McNaughton, Alicia McNaughton and Adriana Vara; her great grandchildren: Ella, Kendall, Davi, Connor, Everleigh, Julianne and her daughter-in-law, Felicia Nowak.
Besides her parents and husband, Lorraine is predeceased by: her step- father, Donald W. Kingston; grandson, David F. McNaughton and half- brother, Rudolph Lehan.
The family would like to give heartfelt thanks and love to her Chautauqua Nursing and Rehab family where Lorraine had lived for the past 7 years. Affectionately known as “Mrs. McNaughty”, she was cared for with love, respect and some humor mixed in that she so loved. We are appreciative for everything you did.
Relatives and friends are welcome to call on Saturday September, 16th from 2-4pm at the Larson- Timko Funeral Home, 20 Central Avenue in Fredonia. Private interment will be at the convenience of the family.
