Barbara Ellen (Houghton) Arcadipane

Barb was born July 9, 1937, a daughter to the late Sylvanus Otis and Ruby (Chamberlain) Houghton.

She was a resident of Westfield, NY for the majority of her adult life. She served with the W.A.C.S. District for thirty-two years as a bus driver, and then became a bus monitor for an additional nineteen years.

Barb also cleaned for Westfield Family Dental from which she recently retired.

She loved to work and keep busy and always enjoyed seeing the students that she drove bus for flourish in the community. She was also a Foster Parent from 1977-1987.

Barb was a parishioner the West Portland Baptist Church and was devout to her faith, church, and missions. Barb was an avid animal lover and supporter. She fostered and owned multiple cats over the years. She loved working in her garden, cruising Westfield in her Jeep to find a yard sale, and spending time by the lake. She enjoyed her birthday lunch group of friends and was tickled to be able to spend an afternoon with them this past July. Her favorite past-time was spending time with her family whether it was to celebrate Christmas or a picnic in her yard. She was always thankful when her family was able to get together and her favorite people in the world were blessed to call her “Mom” and Grandma Buffy. She will best be remembered by all for her spirit and spunk and her life’s motivation to be kind to all.

She is survived by her son Richard (Deborah) Harsen of Bradford, Pennsylvania; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild: Jason Olinghouse, Emily Harsen, Benjamin (Natalie and Caden McKenzie) Harsen, and Brittany (Sarah) Harsen. She is also survived by her extended family Valerie Lanphere and her sister Carrie Lanphere Beilen.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Arlene Ayers, Delma Hawkins, and Beverly Rogers and her beloved daughter Kathleen D. Osborne.

Friends will be received from 11AM-1PM Wednesday, September 6th, 2023, at the West Portland Baptist Church where a funeral service will be conducted at 1PM with Pastor Charles Robertson officiating.

The burial will be in Union Cemetery, Westfield, NY.
